History of Manchester United Football Club

One of the world’s famous foot ball club the club was formed on 1878 in the name Newton Heath L&YR Football Club.The managing director J.H. Davies was appointed club chairman and changed the name from Newton Heath F.C. to Manchester United.In 1908 Manchester United secured its first League Title.After the second world war Matt Busby was appointed as the Manager in 1945 and he took them to a runners-up spot in 1947, 1948 and 1949 as well as helping them win the FA Cup in 1948.With out any league title for 41 years they atlast won their League Title in 1952.United again won the European Cup in 1968 winning the final 4-1 against Benfica.In 1969 Matt Busby resigned his post after 24 years in charge and Manchester struggled to replace his success eventually being pushed to the Second Division in 1974.The club made an immediate return to the First Division and reached the FA Cup Final but eventually lost the final. However, they won the FA Cup one year later against Liverpool, but were beaten in 1979 Cup Final by Arsenal. During the 1980’s manchester was struggling for a good success in the league . Aberdeen boss Alex Ferguson was appointed as the manager of Manchester in 1986 and under him it won the FA Cup in 1990 but in 1991 Manchester was beaten in in the final against Barcelona.The club won the title again in 1997.Year 1999 was the most successful one for Manchester grabbing Premier League, the FA Cup and European Cup. And continued their success in the year 2000,2001,2003& 2004. In 2008 manchester won their 10th Premiership title.
